Development Review Engineer

The City of Littleton is seeking an experienced Development Review Engineer to join our collaborative Community Development team. This is an opportunity to help shape one of Colorado's most vibrant communities by reviewing a wide variety of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and redevelopment projects that will have a lasting impact on our city. As a key member of our development review team, you'll work closely with developers, design professionals, and internal departments to deliver high-quality projects while providing exceptional customer service and practical engineering solutions.

Hiring pay range for Development Review Engineer II: $107,635 - $113,300 per year

Hiring pay range for Development Review Engineer III: $114,665 - $120,700 per year

This full-time position is exempt per FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position and has the option to work a hybrid schedule with some days teleworking and some days working in person at the office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the review of development proposals, site plans, and construction drawings.
  • Conducts preliminary assessments and evaluations of project feasibility and compliance.
  • Collaborates with other departments, developers, and the public to provide technical guidance and support.
  • Participates in site inspections and field investigations to ensure project adherence to approved plans.
  • Prepares reports and documentation related to development review activities.
  • Responds to inquiries from the public, developers, and other stakeholders regarding development standards and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with Public Works Design Standards, Standard Plans, and City of Littleton Revised Code for public utilities and Right-of-Way improvements associated with residential and commercial developments through the permit plan review phase.
  • Interprets construction drawings and provide direction to inspectors.
  • Serves as contact with private sector engineers to resolve design problems and provide clarity of standards interpretation.
  • Reviews as-builts drawings and final documentation for project acceptance.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities for Development Review Engineer II:

  • Provides first-level supervision and mentorship to project staff.
  • Reviews and approves development proposals, site plans, and construction drawings for compliance with regulations.
  • Reviews initial design submittals for infrastructure needs during the land use phase.
  • Conducts detailed assessments and evaluations of project feasibility, environmental impact, and compliance.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to developers, contractors, and the public.
  • Performs site inspections and field investigations to verify project adherence to approved plans.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports, documentation, and recommendations related to development review activities.
  • Coordinates with other departments and agencies to facilitate the development review process.
  • Participates in public meetings and hearings to present findings and recommendations.
