Mechanical Engineer (willing to consider all senior levels)to join our Spacecraft design team located at our facility in
Littleton, CO

Summary

It is expected that you may not know all the answers at first, but that you are eager to find them! This includes a desire to learn new skills and concepts and apply your prowess to solve our customers’ most difficult problems and invent new solutions. (If it were easy, they would do it themselves.) This is typically done by drawing on your fundamental understanding of the mechanical world and then exercising your artistic creativity to rearrange existing technology into novel applications and sometimes inventing entirely new technology.

This position will focus on developing state-of-the-art structures and mechanisms for satellites, launch vehicles, and missile defense applications.

Some examples include but are not limited to spacecraft primary structure, lightweight and high‑stiffness assemblies, deployment and release mechanisms, avionics and payload mounting architectures, and tailored structural solutions enabling reliable mission performance from launch through end-of-life.

Responsibilities
  • Functionally own specific mechanical systems and coordinate cross team interactions for those systems
  • Own spacecraft configuration and mechanical architecture from concept through integration
  • Operate in a dynamic, fast paced, and multidisciplinary environment
  • Develop 3D spacecraft structure designs primarily in Solid Works
  • Create manufacturing drawings using GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5
  • Perform first-order structural analyses and sanity‑checks to support design trades
  • Create design review packages typically using Microsoft Power Point
  • Create and maintain requirements compliance matrixes in Microsoft Excel or Jama
  • Create assembly and build documentation
  • Present and justify design decisions to internal teams and customers
  • Directly assemble prototype hardware in a laboratory environment
  • Follow internal Quality Assurance (QA) processes and procedures in compliance with AS9100 standards
  • Interface with customers, subcontractors, and manufacturers
  • Make decisions independently with limited oversight and drive clarity in ambiguous or fast‑changing requirements
  • Develop and track schedules and meet deadlines
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with teammates, leadership, and external partners
Ideal Experience
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 5 or more years of related work experience in aerospace, space, defense, or other high reliability industries
  • Experienced with Solid Works
  • Experience generating engineering drawings and using GD&T
  • Familiarity with materials, coatings, lubricants, and space-rated hardware considerations
  • Experienced with mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to travel occasionally based on program needs
Desired Skills
  • Experience with spacecraft build, integration, and test environments
  • Familiarity with NASA standards, range safety, and launch vehicle user guides
