Electronics Engineer, Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
Standard Job Description
We are looking for a creative Electronics Engineer to join an exciting and dynamic team where you will work on the development of a sophisticated state‑of‑the‑art avionics product in a world class Integrated Product Development environment.
LocationThis position does not support teleworking. You will need to live near our Lockheed Martin Space facility and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full‑time.
What does this role look like? The Circuit Design Engineer will design, analyse, and qualify advanced avionics hardware for space missions, creating and validating digital and analog schematics, performing worst‑case, stress, and FMEA analyses, and running simulations with tools such as CadencePSpice and Saber. Using Zuken or Siemens Xpedition for schematic capture and EPCAD/Siemens for PCB layout. In short, the role is a blend of hands‑on hardware development, rigorous analytical validation, cross‑team collaboration, and documentation/communication—all aimed at delivering flight‑ready avionics that can survive the harsh environment of space.
KeyActivities You Will Accomplish In This Role
- Circuit Design & Analysis – Create and validate digital/analog schematics; perform worst‑case, parts‑stress, and FMEA analyses; run simulations (CadencePSpice, Saber, etc.).
- Schematic Capture & Layout – Use Zuken (or Siemens Xpedition) for schematic capture and EPCAD/Siemens for PCB layout, ensuring signal integrity and compliance.
- Hardware Development – Build prototype units, define checkout and test procedures, and execute Acceptance & Qualification testing.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Partner with PCB, GNC, FPGA, and Special Test Equipment teams to integrate and verify hardware.
- Design Assurance – Produce complete design assurance packages (data, evidence, compliance reports) for senior review and external audits.
- Trade‑Study & Optimization – Conduct trade‑studies of alternate architectures and recommend solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Bill of Materials Management – Control BOM, source parts, manage prototype build‑up, and drive cost‑effective part selection.
- Environmental Qualification – Verify designs meet shock, vibration, radiation, thermal, and other space‑environment standards.
- Stakeholder Communication – Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and issue escalations to program, technical, and functional leadership; support customer briefings.
- Team Contribution – Mentor junior engineers, contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives, and foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
- Experience or coursework related to design and/or analysis of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA). 5+ years of professional experience
