We are passionate about space, our customers, our company, and our team. As a Thermal Engineering Associate Manager, you will:
- Coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
- Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
- Generally has 5+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
- Manage a team of 5-8 thermal engineers by providing oversight, technical mentoring, career development, training, and performance reviews
- Work collaboratively with the programs your team supports and with functional leadership to manage staffing requirements and plan job assignments to sustain engineering capabilities and critical skills
- Represent the organization in design reviews and external interactions, practicing Full Spectrum
- Oversee technical product management for program life cycles, facilitating strategic initiatives for affordability and efficiency across the programs your team supports
- Independently perform detailed thermal analysis of spacecraft components and systems to ensure program requirements and schedules are met
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education
- Prior experience as a formal technical lead or manager
- Thorough knowledge of heat transfer and thermodynamics, particularly related to GEO and LEO space applications.
- TVAC test experience, including planning, setup, execution and post-test model correlation.
- Proficient (minimum 5 years experience) with finite difference and/or finite element numerical solution tools (e.g., Thermal Desktop,
- SINDA, NX Thermal)
- Ability to obtain Secret and Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance
- Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership competencies, including: communicating with positive impact, developing enduring relationships, making effective decisions, delivering value, building organizational talent, and being accountable
- Proficient with engineering level computer programming tools (e.g., Fortran, Matlab)
- Experience with test engineering, instrumentation, data collection, and/or test reports
- Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and quickly and efficiently drive to closure
- Willingness to mentor and develop junior engineers
