Position OverviewThe Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, and cultural leadership of Sedgwick County Health Center (SCHC) and all affiliated entities. This role oversees the coordination, direction, and performance of all clinical and non‑clinical services, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while maintaining alignment with SCHC’s mission, strategic priorities, and community health needs.
The CEO serves as the senior executive leader for the organization and is accountable for enterprise‑wide performance across the Critical Access Hospital, Rural Health Clinics, Long‑Term Care services, Assisted Living operations, and any affiliated programs or service lines. The CEO provides direct leadership to the executive and management teams, maintains active engagement with the Board of Trustees, leads strategic growth and transformation initiatives, and serves as the primary representative of SCHC to the community, regulatory agencies, and external partners.

- Directs, supervises, and coordinates the functions and activities of all SCHC entities and departments
- Ensures safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care delivery across all service lines and care environments
- Leads development and execution of long‑term strategic plans, organizational growth strategies, and transformation initiatives
- Oversees all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle performance, cost containment, and capital planning
- Serves as primary liaison to the SCHC Board of Trustees and provides regular operational, financial, quality, and strategic reporting
- Ensures organizational compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, State of Colorado requirements, and all applicable regulatory bodies
- Leads workforce strategy including recruitment, retention, workforce redesign, leadership development, and succession planning
- Maintains oversight of quality assurance, patient safety, risk management, and compliance programs
- Directs development and implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and programs and ensures annual review and updates
- Oversees payer contracting strategy, reimbursement optimization, and value‑based care preparation
- Leads enterprise digital strategy including EHR optimization, data analytics, reporting, and technology infrastructure
- Identifies and evaluates organizational needs to ensure effective utilization of personnel, capital, equipment, and supplies
- Supports development of service lines and clinical programs aligned with community need and financial sustainability
- Provides leadership during emergency preparedness events, disaster response, and community crisis management
- Maintains positive relationships with patients, staff, medical staff, board members, community leaders, and external partners
- Promotes and enhances a positive organizational culture and work environment
- Maintains an environment sufficient to meet the needs of patients/residents, staff, and community stakeholders
- Participates in organizational orientation, education, and training initiatives
- Maintains required organizational reporting, documentation, and regulatory submissions
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team‑based behaviors
- Shows commitment to personal professional growth through the pursuit of advanced knowledge and skills
- Abides by the SCHC Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct
- Contributes to the daily operations of the hospital, clinics, nursing home, and assisted living center by performing other roles as needed
