We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated RN to join our Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Lab team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team that is deeply specialized, collaborative, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care. The EP Lab supports three procedural labs and serves a complex patient population referred from across the region for advanced EP procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing EP procedures, including cardioversions, ablations (Afib, Aflutter, SVT, PVC, VT), device implants, and lead extractions in conjunction with the Cardiac OR team.
- Function in both the monitor and scrub roles in the department, while maintaining proficiency in sterile technique, procedural physician support, device interrogation, and real‑time patient assessment.
- Demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment during EP procedures.
- Collaborate closely with EP attending’s, EP fellows, anesthesia providers, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient procedural flow.
- Anticipate procedural needs and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.
- Participate in maintaining a highly effective and efficient lab environment, including quality improvement initiatives and continuous education.
Provides direct patient care at a proficient level, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, while monitoring the patient to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes, and maximize available resources.
ResponsibilitiesPerform functions before the procedure, including preparing the environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing the patient’s medical record to ensure the safety checklist is complete.
Respond to life‑threatening situations utilizing nursing standards and protocols for treatment. Handle critical and highly stressful situations, reacting decisively with efficiency and composure.
Provide nursing care in a technically complex environment.
Evaluate learning needs of the patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Within scope of the job, require critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements- Registered Nurse
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Graduate of an accredited or state‑board‑approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years’ experience.
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and relevant licensure/certification as determined at position level.
- Minimum 6 months of RN experience or completion of the UCHealth Fellowship program.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be valid for at least sixty days after hire.
