Description:
This is a seasonal travel RN position in the Labor & Delivery specialty.
The unit has 19 patient rooms, 6 PACU rooms, and 6 triage rooms.
There are 3 Labor & Delivery operating rooms.
The average staff matrix for night shift consists of 1 charge nurse and 7-9 RNs.On day shift, the matrix features 1 charge nurse, 3 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters.
Patient ratios vary, with 2:1 being common and 1:1 for complicated patients.
The equipment used includes FHR monitors and fetal scalp electrodes.
The EMR systems in use are CPN and Meditech.
Responsibilities include directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients in labor and delivery, postpartum patients, and high-risk antepartum patients.
Typical procedures on the unit involve vaginal deliveries, c-section deliveries, and delivering care through the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
