Department Information
THESE ARE TEMPORARY POSITIONS (9 MONTHS OR LESS) – PAYING $18.00 PER HOUR. Employment starts 02/01/2026 through 11/01/2026 at the Visitor Center. Employment starts 04/01/2026 through 11/01/2026 as a Trail and Maintenance Technician. To apply, please submit only your application (without attachments). Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Mission:
To perpetuate the wildlife resources, provide a quality parks system, and provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire future generations.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors; distribute maps and brochures; orient visitors; promote education programs; educate on regulations.
- Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, water, novelties, gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, off‑highway vehicle and snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses.
- Operate cash register.
- Answer telephones, transfer and take messages.
- Photo‑copy and file documents.
- Collect revenue, complete shift reports, balance shift boxes.
- Prepare event facility reservation forms and documents.
- Document and report visitor complaints.
- Clean and perform light maintenance duties, including litter pick up.
- Assist with special events or programs within the park.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work closely with trail crew supervisor and Park Ranger to maintain 15 miles of natural surface trails, noxious weed abatement, and wildfire fuel mitigation work.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on state tools and equipment.
- Assure quality customer service through efficient park maintenance, effective repair, and cleanliness of park tools and facilities.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors.
- May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for all general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including restrooms, showers, vault toilets, cabins and yurts, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on state owned vehicles and equipment.
- Assure quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair, and cleanliness.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors.
- May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned. This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to six months in duration; school schedules can be accommodated.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license and provide a current Motor Vehicle Report.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- Previous experience handling money and working with the public is helpful.
- Experience with data entry and word processing utilizing MS Office and Google platforms required.
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- May be required to work the entrance station for an 8‑hour shift and take lunch in the station.
- Some uniform items will be provided; employees may be required to purchase limited items at their own expense.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be free of felony convictions or pending charges; consideration given to other violations.
- Must have or be able to attain valid current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Must be able to lift 50–75 pounds repeatedly.
- Must be able to work outside during inclement weather.
- Applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
- Knowledge of power and hand tools preferred.
- Knowledge of small engine and other equipment and maintenance repair preferred.
