This position is full‑time (8 hours per day) for the school year only (180 days). We are hiring one full‑time District Security Officer.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly base pay: $26.51. Pay is spread over 12 months. Additional compensation based on experience. Benefits available. Employee benefits information:

Position Purpose

As a school‑based District Officer, the primary objective is to ensure the safety, security, and well‑being of students, staff, and visitors within the assigned school. This role involves implementing and enforcing policies and procedures related to school safety, emergency preparedness, and crisis response. The officer collaborates with school administrators, local law enforcement, and community stakeholders to create a secure and nurturing environment conducive to effective learning.

Additional responsibilities include fostering positive relationships with students and resolving conflicts. The officer serves as a visible and approachable presence, promoting trust and community while proactively addressing security concerns.

Essential Duties
  • Monitor all district surveillance security cameras.
  • Operate and interact with the district’s unified security, communication, mass notification, and hazard monitoring/alert systems; respond to or dispatch appropriate responders to events and incidents.
  • Perform mobile and foot patrols of district property interior and exterior to team standards; use mobile radio or cell phone to communicate security instructions and emergency procedures; respond to incidents as a first responder and assist other first responders.
  • Interact with staff, students, and the public professionally, de‑escalating difficult situations; work under potentially hostile and stressful circumstances; log all incident reports and other assigned reports.
  • Perform light maintenance and service checks on card readers, motion detectors, security cameras, and other equipment as directed by the Assistant Director of Security.
  • Conduct and document at least one camera audit per day; log audit information in the appropriate Google sheet; email relevant District Security staff to complete repairs.
  • Conduct daily building audits with the Ready Op form; report serious damage immediately to direct supervisor and local School Liaison.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the school campus to deter and detect suspicious activities or safety hazards.
  • Respond promptly to any security incidents or emergencies on campus, including fights, disturbances, medical emergencies, or criminal activity in conjunction with the School Resource Officer.
  • Enforce school rules, dress code policies, visitor procedures, and behavioral expectations.
  • Investigate incidents of misconduct, vandalism, theft, or other violations of school policies or procedures.
  • Collaborate with the School Resource Officer and/or Law Enforcement staff when necessary, including reporting incidents.
  • Assist with development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures, including participating in drills and exercises.
  • Collaborate with departments, counselors, and other staff to address security concerns and implement proactive measures to enhance campus security.
  • Ensure all safety equipment—locks, alarms, communication devices—are properly maintained and functioning.
  • Be visible and approachable to promote a sense of security and trust within the community.

  • Consistent schedules: efforts will be made to maintain consistent employee schedules; occasional adjustments may be necessary.
  • Versatile shifts: proficiency in working between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. required.
