Specialty Roofs & Skylight Expert Needed for Quality Control & Mentorship
Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (Part-Time / As-Needed)
Hours: Variable (Average ~20 hours/month). Peaks of 1-3 days/week depending on project load.
Compensation: Competitive Hourly or Daily Rate (Commensurate with Experience)
The OpportunityWe are Colorado's leading home efficiency team. Our internal crews are excellent at what they do, but we are looking for a Subject Matter Expert to partner with us on complex, specialty roofing projects.
We need a seasoned pro—someone with "gray beard" wisdom in the roofing trade—to join us on-site specifically for roof alterations, skylight installations, and solar tube cut-ins on difficult roof types.
This is not a full-time labor role. This is a role for a master roofer who wants to pick up extra high-paying hours by ensuring high-quality execution and mentoring a younger crew. Independent owner-operators are welcome.
Your MissionYou will act as the "Site Superintendent" for specific specialty jobs with 2-4 of our employees completing the work. You aren't doing the whole roof; you are ensuring the critical tie-ins and flashings are bulletproof.
- The Technical Expert: Oversee and assist with flashing and installing skylights/fixtures on Presidential/Class 4 Shingles, Flat & Spanish Tile, Stone Coated Steel, and EPDM Flat Roofing.
- Player-Coach: You provide a blend of hands-on help and high-level supervision. You will jump in to flash a curb or cut a tile, but you are also there to watch the crew and ensure they don't make mistakes.
- Quality Control: You are the final sign-off. If the flashing isn't right, you call it out and show them how to fix it.
- Mentorship: Transfer your knowledge. Help our high-performing internal team get comfortable with these specialty materials.
- 10+ Years Roofing
Experience:
You have seen it all. You know exactly how water moves on a Spanish Tile roof vs. Stone Coated Steel. - Specialty Material Master: You have specific, verifiable experience with:
- Stone Coated Steel (Decra, etc.)
- EPDM / Flat Roofing
- Manufacturer Training: Formal training certificates on the systems listed above are highly preferred.
- Professional & Reliable: You show up when scheduled. You present well to homeowners (clean, professional, respectful).
- References
Required:
We require 3 references from past employers or clients verifying your technical skill.
- Scheduling: Work is scheduled in advance based on sold jobs. Reliability is key—if we book a crane or a crew, we need you there.
- Engagement: Expect an average of ~5 hours a week / 20 hours a month, but this comes in waves. You might work 2 full days one week and then not for two weeks.
If you are a master roofer looking to leverage your knowledge for steady side work with a top-tier local company, let's talk.
