JOB FUNCTION / PURPOSE

Beacon Communications is seeking an experienced Audio Visual Technician II to support the installation, service, and maintenance of commercial AV systems. This role is responsible for installing displays, projector systems, conferencing technology, control systems, and supporting infrastructure in corporate, education, and municipal environments. The ideal candidate can read AV drawings and safely perform physical installation work. The salary range for this role is between $25.00 and $28.00/hour, commensurate on relevant education, experience, and other job‑related factors.

REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience installing and/or servicing commercial AV systems
  • Ability to read and interpret AV drawings, riser diagrams, floor plans, and schematics
  • Experience mounting flat panel displays, projector screens, projectors, wall and ceiling mounts
  • Working knowledge of signal flow, cabling standards, and rack layouts
  • Familiarity with AV manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools (lifts, drills, anchors, ladders)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CTS or CTS‑I certification (or willingness to obtain within 18 months)
  • Experience coordinating with GCs, ECs, and low‑voltage teams
  • Experience with Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and conferencing platforms
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install AV systems including displays, projectors, screens, racks, microphones, speakers, cameras, and control interfaces
  • Execute work from AV drawings and equipment lists
  • Perform rough‑in and trim‑out activities
  • Terminate and dress cabling to professional standards
  • Assist with testing, commissioning, and punch list resolution
  • Troubleshoot basic AV issues in the field
  • Document work completed and report issues to PMs
  • Follow all jobsite safety standards
  • Must have tools to perform daily tasks
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working on ladders and lifts
  • Ability to perform overhead work
