Ground Software Engineer

Overview

Level 2 Ground Software Engineer – Active Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance required. This position is based at Lockheed Martin’s Littleton, CO facility.

This role builds innovative ground system software as part of an Agile team. You will use modern development tools and Dev Sec Ops  practices to advance system capabilities from early design through site acceptance, focusing on software reuse, COTS/FOSS integrations, and best‑practice innovation.

• Design, implement, test, and maintain object‑oriented ground system applications using Java, C#, Rust, Angular, and Python.
• Support modernization initiatives to improve efficiency, security, automation, and scalability.
• Collaborate with software, systems, and test engineers in an Agile development environment.
• Participate in system design, development, and acceptance processes, ensuring high quality and timely delivery of features.
• Communicate effectively across teams and contribute to a culture of teamwork and mission focus.

• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• One year of professional software development experience.
• Experience with Scaled Agile development methodologies.
• Active TS clearance with eligibility for SCI.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Proficient in Java, C#, Rust, Python, Apache Kafka, Apache ActiveMQ, ELK Stack/Open Search, PostgreSQL, Redis, Helm, Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud/containerization and distributed systems design.
• Background in developing ground subsystems and microservices.
• Git version control proficiency.
• Knowledge of Dev Sec Ops  pipelines, automated testing, CI/CD, and regression testing.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and commitment to reliable communication/ground subsystem delivery.

Position requires a current government security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Location:

Littleton, CO. Onsite full‑time, first shift.

Schedule:

9×80 with every other Friday off.

Salary Range (may vary by state): $76,500 – $134,895 annual base, plus incentive plan eligibility.
