Duties Summary Operate two or more types of motorized equipment such as trucks having a factory rated capacity of 1-1/2 but less than 5 tons and rollers under 5 tons; may perform manual work tasks in connection with general construction and maintenance work; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified.

Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Note:

Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro‑rated. Example:
Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example:
Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Experience and Training: One year of work experience involving the operation of at least two of the motorized equipment representative of the class; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Examples of such equipment are: Trucks having a factory rated capacity of 1-1/2 but less than 5 tons and rollers under 5 tons, and may operate heavier equipment as an incidental work assignment.

License: Applicant must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B at the time of application.

Note: If you have an out-of-state CDL, you must transfer it to a Hawaii‑issued CDL by the time of appointment. Also, for positions requiring a CDL, the Federal Department of Transportation regulations require pre‑employment testing for controlled substances. If you are selected for this position, you will be informed by the hiring agency of when and where to report for testing.
