Reporting directly to the Assistant General Manager, the Utility Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Engineering Department while performing a wide range of electrical engineering functions. This role collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to support the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Town’s electric distribution system. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee daily operations of the Engineering Department.
- Plan, design, and support upgrades to the electric distribution system.
- Provide technical leadership for construction, maintenance, and operational projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, engineering standards, and local/state codes.
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Review engineering drawings, system studies, and project documentation.
- Support troubleshooting, system reliability improvements, and outage response.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, safety, and system performance.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Strong knowledge of power systems engineering and electric distribution systems.
- Ability to safely and correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE) for high‑voltage distribution environments.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Three (3) or more years of utility engineering or electric distribution experience.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Familiarity with electrical design software and engineering tools.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, safety practices, and compliance standards.
