Product Manager – Coolant Distribution Unit

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Product Manager – Coolant Distribution Unit located in Littleton, MA.

Reporting to the VP, Design, Process and Technology Engineering the Product Manager – Coolant Distribution Unit will lead our coolant distribution unit team and rapidly mature our innovative coolant distribution unit designs into production. The successful candidate will influence architecture decisions, guide design and development, and lead a small team of engineers that is backed by Flex's broad global resources in engineering and production.

Our products have extremely attractive performance profiles and strive for the highest levels of reliability. The product manager will ensure that these core qualities are delivered to all customers across the product line by managing NPI toll gates and ensuring technical and programmatic risks are addressed in a systematic manner throughout the maturation of our products. The product manager will take part in targeted customer meetings to discuss the technical aspects of our products and work with our customers to identify opportunities for next generation product development directions.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Guide CDU products through the NPI process.
  • Manage a small team of engineers to ensure their responsibilities grow commensurate with their performance and experience.
  • Assist the Ops team in life cycle activities supporting deployed product and products in production.
  • Maximize collaboration between the local Jet Cool engineering team and broader Flex resources across engineering, production, and supply chain.
  • Provide technical review of the work produced by engineers in the group to ensure rigorous technical calculations, experiments, and reporting.
  • Help in maintaining a strong best practice culture and driving additional foundational knowledge and IP.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Participate in design reviews, presenting technical findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of technical challenges and issues related to coolant distribution units throughout the product lifecycle.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-collegiate experience, preferably working in hardware product management in the data center cooling, automotive, medical, or nuclear industries.
  • Familiarity with NPI processes, phase gates, and managing technical risk.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to drive excellent technical performance within the coolant distribution unit group.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate product performance to external stakeholders.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, or PMP.
  • Startup experience and 12+ years of experience.
  • Familiarity with data center cooling infrastructure (cooling modules, CDUs, dry coolers, chillers).
  • Familiarity with relevant industry and regulatory standards related to fluid systems and mechanical engineering.
  • Previous involvement in the development of fluid systems for data center cooling, automotive, medical, or nuclear applications.
  • Publications, patents, or contributions to industry-related conferences or forums.
