The Middlesex Corporation seeks a Field Mechanic to support heavy civil construction projects in our Technical & Maintenance department. This role performs on-site diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, and small engines used on highway, bridge, and rail projects. The Field Mechanic responds to breakdowns in the field, troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and ensures all work meets strict safety and quality standards.

Collaboration with project teams is essential to minimize downtime, support schedules, and uphold our culture of safety, innovation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment, trucks, and support vehicles.
  • Respond to field breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime and support project schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and services per manufacturer and company standards.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and maintenance history accurately in service records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and operators to prioritize repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and equipment standards.
  • Operate service trucks, tools, and diagnostic equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Assist in planning parts inventory and ordering to support field operations.
  • Support continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
