As a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician, you'll inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair water-based fire protection systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and institutional customers throughout Massachusetts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of:
- Wet Pipe Systems
- Dry Pipe Systems
- Pre-Action Systems
- Standpipe Systems
- Diagnose system deficiencies and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Repair or replace valves, sprinkler heads, piping components, switches, gauges, and other system devices.
- Perform small sprinkler installations, modifications, and tenant improvement projects.
- Ensure all work complies with:
- NFPA 13
- NFPA 20
- NFPA 25
- Massachusetts Fire Code
- OSHA Standards
- Coordinate inspections with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, service documentation, and deficiency reports.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding system conditions and recommended repairs.
- Work safely while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Sprinkler Fitter License
- Minimum 1 year of fire sprinkler service, inspection, or installation experience
- Working knowledge of:
- NFPA 13
- NFPA 20
- NFPA 25
- Massachusetts Fire Code
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Certification (Water-Based Systems)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience with fire pumps, standpipes, and pre-Action systems
- Experience using electronic inspection software or mobile service platforms
Physical and Work Requirements
- This position requires the ability to work in various environments and lift heavy equipment, when necessary. Ability to work on ladders and lifts.
