SUMMARY
The Substitute Teacher is an on-call as needed employee of the school. A Substitute Teacher may be called the day before they are needed or early in the morning on the day of the absence of the regular teacher due to illness or other obligations. A substitute teacher is expected to be a role model for the students like the regular teachers.
He or she supports the main school calendar by stepping up when the agreed teacher is unable to take their full responsibilities. The substitute teacher will perform the instructional and classroom management duties for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods of time. The Substitute Teacher is directly responsible to the Director of Education. This position is eligible for overtime pay.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
The person filling this position must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification. Experience working with youth or experience in a similar position is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each area of responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Must be fully qualified to instruct or teach the students in the absence of the regular teacher.
