QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.

* Certified by the State of Florida in the appropriate areas.

* Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience or related work experience.

* Satisfactory criminal background check.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of School Board policies and practices as they relate to job function. Knowledge of and ability to use computer technology. Skill in the human interaction and conflict resolution. Ability to read and interpret applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize activities related to assignment. Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, general public and governmental agencies. Ability to tolerate highly stressful situations.

Principal

JOB GOAL

To assist the principal in providing for proper supervision and discipline of students to create and maintain a safe environment conducive to learning.

SUPERVISES:

N/A

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Program Leadership/Development

* Assist the principal in developing and maintaining the school's philosophy of discipline.

* Work with staff, students and parents to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.

* Assist in the coordination, implementation and supervision of co-curricular activities.

* Make recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting student life in school.

Personnel Action Services

* Provide guidance to and instruction for teachers in the implementation of discipline policies and school safety.

* Assist in monitoring and assisting substitute teachers.

* Provide training opportunities and feedback to personnel as appropriate.

* Develop and administer duty rosters for certificated and non-certificated staff as assigned.

School Operations/Delivery Systems

* Assist in coordinating emergency drills and related reports.

* Assist in supervision of school transportation services.

* Assist in developing and implementing the school's Crisis Intervention Plan.

* Assist the principal in the daily operation of the school.

* Assist in developing, updating and distributing handbooks, activity calendars and related materials.

* Assist in supervising and monitoring the accurate and timely completion of data collection and reporting requirements required by the district and state.

* Assist in identifying maintenance or facility needs.

Student Support Services

* Resolve discipline problems in a fair and just manner and maintain appropriate discipline records.

* Assist with monitoring student attendance and coordinating absentee records and reporting.

* Counsel individual students and make appropriate referrals for testing, guidance or psychological services.

* Confer with parents, teachers, counselors, student support personnel and students on matters of discipline and student welfare.

* Complete investigative and due process procedures in a timely manner.

* Investigate and recommend students for suspension or expulsion in coordination with the principal.

* Supervise student activities, including athletic events, as assigned.

* Assist in arranging and participating in parent-teacher conferences.
