Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Livermore, California. This role involves overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and contributing to the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Perform general ledger and bank reconciliations to support the month-end close process.

- Prepare accurate and comprehensive monthly financial statements.

- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills and specialized accounting software to manage financial tasks effectively.

- Review and audit accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments.

- Maintain a high level of organization and accuracy while handling accruals and journal entries.

- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

- Analyze financial data to support decision-making and enhance reporting accuracy.

- Assist in maintaining internal controls and implementing best practices for financial operations.

- Provide support for special projects and ad hoc reporting needs as required. Requirements - Proven experience with month-end close processes and general ledger accounting.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations and accounts payable procedures.

- Expertise with accruals and financial statement preparation.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.

- Familiarity with specialized accounting software and systems.

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
