Responsibilities
  • Apply and maintain cost accounting practices in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Plan, collect, and analyze data to determine and report all cost factors affecting production including raw material purchases, inventory management costs, production labor, outside services, and machine shop activity.
  • Track and report on raw materials, work in process, finished goods, and consignment inventory.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory cost data and maintain standard material costs and rates.
  • Conduct annual evaluation of tiered pricing and purchasing patterns to determine if standard costs should be updated.
  • Proactively review reports of items with a $0 standard cost and communicate with Operations to determine necessary updates.
  • Identify and monitor potential obsolete and excess inventory and calculate necessary reserves for management review.
  • Perform periodic review of labor and overhead rates to ensure proper product pricing.
  • Prepare and distribute actual-to-budget cost center reports, inventory-related reports, and other month‑end management reports, including analysis, reconciliations, and explanations of results.
  • Review and distribute PPV and WO variance reports to operations for review, explanation, and sign‑off.
  • Communicate and partner with Operations on variance review as needed.
  • Assist in periodic inventory counts and evaluate the adequacy of the inventory count program.
  • Prepare month‑end cost accounting journal entries and reconcile perpetual inventory to the general ledger.
  • Perform quarterly warranty reserve analysis for management review.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in the budget and forecasting processes related to cost of goods and manufacturing expenses.
  • Manage accounting projects assigned from time to time.
  • Prepare quarterly and year‑end audit documentation, including review of account balances and explanations of changes, based on requests from audit partners.
  • Monitor cost accounting activities of others to ensure consistency in reporting and compliance with Ferrotec and J‑Sox Controls.
  • Perform other related duties as reasonably assigned.

    The position can work from our Livermore or San Jose office.
  • Maintain an overriding commitment to quality and enable change within the organization.
Qualifications
  • 7 years of cost accounting experience in a standard cost manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in an advanced MRP II environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows‑based PC software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with proven problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Oracle experience.
