Accounting Leader
We are looking for an experienced accounting leader to oversee financial operations for multiple privately held businesses in Livermore, California. This position serves as a key advisor to company leadership while managing the full accounting cycle, maintaining strong internal controls, and delivering accurate financial information for decision-making. The role is ideal for someone with a background in construction-related accounting who can balance day-to-day execution with high-level financial oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the complete accounting function across three related entities, ensuring accurate records, timely transaction processing, and reliable financial data.
- Lead daily accounting activities by guiding support staff responsible for payables, receivables, billing administration, payroll input, and other transactional tasks.
- Oversee weekly payroll operations, including multistate processing, labor tracking, job cost allocation, and reporting for certified and prevailing wage requirements.
- Produce monthly and annual financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses to highlight performance and operating trends.
- Manage customer invoicing, subcontractor disbursements, draw schedules, and lien documentation to keep project-related financial activity aligned with contract milestones.
- Monitor construction cost activity by reconciling project expenses, reviewing change orders, and assigning costs accurately across jobs and business units.
- Partner with the president and project leadership to review budgets, validate project financials, and support informed operational decisions.
- Maintain compliance with applicable tax rules, payroll regulations, and construction-related reporting standards at the state and federal levels.
- Prepare schedules and documentation needed for audits, tax filings, and project closeout processes while supporting the use of accounting platforms common to the construction industry.
