Craft Supervisor (Deployed Team Responsible Individual)

We have an opening for a Craft Supervisor within the Alarms Group of the Infrastructure Maintenance and Utilities Department (IMUD) in the Infrastructure & Operations Directorate (I&O). The position will provide technical and administrative guidance and manage the day‑to‑day activities of skilled trades, establishing priorities, setting up schedules, and coordinating work. This role may require on‑site presence at Site 300 in Tracy, California.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of skilled trades engaged in the installation, repair, alteration, operation and maintenance of plant facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate work with planners, schedulers, other shops, building and programmatic personnel; define scope of work, required effort, and materials for work requests and schedule assignments, solve problems, make decisions, and ensure safe, effective and high‑quality execution in compliance with federal, state and LLNL ES&H policies.
  • Serve as point of contact between management, facilities, and shop workers, and participate fully in management decision‑making and goal‑setting.
  • Establish and monitor productivity goals and measurements for craft work processes and adjust as needed; analyze data and prepare supervisory reports.
  • Act as Responsible Individual (RI) to manage day‑to‑day work activities and ensure compliance with Work Planning and Control policy.
  • Interact with personnel at all levels.
  • Assist with accident/incidence investigation, performance‑management documents, and obtain technical advice when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q‑level security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Extensive journey‑level knowledge, abilities, and practical experience in a relevant skilled trade or equivalent in maintenance and/or construction.
  • Technical, administrative and supervisory skills including decision making, problem solving, workload scheduling and workforce utilization.
  • Ability to interpret and implement personnel policies and procedures, disciplinary actions and complete performance appraisals.
  • Provide effective direction, flexibility, motivation, training, development, and guidance with a teamwork emphasis.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety policies and procedures, including work control, hazard evaluation and safety standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related software.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of security policies for nuclear, sensitive or limited‑access facilities.
  • Proven success driving workplace improvement initiatives such as equipment modernization, operational excellence, worker engagement, preventive‑maintenance management, safety‑culture improvement or similar.
Pay Range

$65.25 – $79.92 hourly, based on qualifications, experience and other factors.

Location

Site 300 – an experimental test site operated by LLNL, near Tracy, California.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy Q‑level clearance. Applicants will undergo a federal background investigation. L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q‑level clearance also requires U.S. citizenship.
