Estimator, Quantity Surveyor
Estimators and GSE Construction will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and proposals for construction projects throughout the Western United States. This position works closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to develop competitive bids while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
GSE welcomes candidates from a variety of construction and estimating backgrounds. Previous estimating experience is preferred but not required, and candidates with less experience will receive coaching, mentorship, and training from experienced team members.
LocationThis position is based in one of GSE Construction's offices located in:
- Northern California
- Southern California
- Idaho
Candidates should be able to report daily to one of GSE's office locations.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Attend project site visits, pre-bid meetings, and job walks as required.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients throughout the region.
- Coordinate with operations and project management teams to ensure accurate project pricing and scope coverage.
- Manage multiple bids and proposals simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
- Assist with bid submissions and proposal documentation.
- Continuously improve estimating processes, databases, and cost information.
- Knowledge of Division 4 through Division 10 scopes is preferred; experience in other construction trades or specialties will also be considered.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software is preferred.
- Familiarity with Intent to Bid software is preferred.
- Experience with Smart Bid is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
