Position Overview

The Site Supervisor is responsible for supervising and leading a team of Teachers, Associate Teachers, Teacher Aides and Volunteers while managing all aspects of day‑to‑day operations of a center‑based program. The Site Supervisor provides leadership and guidance, manages planning, organizing, and implementing the care, development and education of typically and atypically developing children, and works with children individually and in small and large groups as part of the cooperative classroom team.

Functions
  • Carry out the goals, policies, procedures and activities designed to implement CAPE, Inc.’s educational objectives, Head Start Performance Standards, CDE Regulations and Community Care Licensing
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information on Head Start children and families
  • Ensure compliance with CACFP at the site
  • Service and supervise meals and snacks; conduct point‑of‑service meal counts and maintain all food safety guidelines
  • Assist with diapering and toileting of children and daily routine functions of the classroom
  • Ensure monthly reports, safety, consumable checklist and small purchase orders are accurate and submitted on time to the Center Operations Manager
  • Observe and apply safety practices at all times
  • All other duties as assigned
Assessments / Curriculum
  • Prepare and maintain required records: developmental and behavioral screenings, Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) at least three times per year, observations of children, two parent conferences and two home visits, analysis of assessment outcomes, annual ECERS evaluation, IDP for each child, and documentation of needs and goals of children with IDP/IEP/IFSP assessments
  • Submit referrals to appropriate specialists as needed
  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, emergent, anti‑bias curriculum with input from parents and staff, incorporating all Head Start and State Preschool components
Parent and Family Involvement (in collaboration with the Family Advocate)
  • Encourage parent involvement in all program aspects and provide parent orientations to new families
  • Build and maintain professional, warm and supportive relationships with families
  • Plan, coordinate and attend Center Parent Meetings with Family Advocates
  • Generate a monthly newsletter for families in the predominant language of the program
  • Greet families daily and establish positive relationships; monitor teaching teams to ensure positive interactions with parents, families and children
  • Participate in scheduled case management meetings and make reports of suspected child abuse to Child Protective Services (CPS) in coordination with agency support staff
Communication
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with parents, Policy Committee Representatives, management team and other community agencies
  • Conduct onsite orientation for new team members; attend and participate in monthly management team meetings, site supervisor and center staff meetings as required
  • Possess oral and written communication skills to effectively speak in public forums or meetings and write reports with the management team
