Position: Teacher on Special Assignment, ELD (2026/2027) 1.0 FTE #2312

Teacher on Special Assignment

The ELD ToSA position is intended to provide programmatic support to sites, instructional support to teachers, and language development support to emergent bilingual students.

  • Programmatic support will entail helping sites configure integrated and designated ELD support times and programs.

  • Instructional support to teachers will entail aiding with the management and direct instruction of students.

  • Language development support will entail working directly with students to promote development and progression in the target language.

This work will be centered on those sites with the highest concentration of emergent bilingual students.

  • The position will also work directly with the Coordinator of ELD to amplify the ELD program and work towards achieving the District's ELD program goals.

The candidate must be familiar with the California ELD Standards and establish an excellent rapport with teachers to professionally coach them.

Requirements
  • Valid California Teaching Credential

  • Minimum five years of successful teaching experience - Permanent Status Preferred

  • Experience in general and/or special education at the elementary and/or secondary level

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to personal professional growth and learning

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnic and gender orientation

  • Knowledge of:

  • California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP)

  • State-adopted content standards, frameworks and accountability systems

  • Formative Assessment

  • Adult learning theory and effective professional development practices

  • Communication, Collaboration, and Consultation Skills

  • Leadership and management skills

  • Best practices related to:

  • Curriculum, Adaptations, and Materials

  • Data-driven instruction and decision-making

  • Social, academic, and behavioral intervention
