- Assist with college outreach activities; coordinate outreach efforts with relevant committees, departments, and campus programs.
- Plan and coordinate college nights, informational meetings, orientations, tours, and other events for junior high and high school students and their parents.
- Conduct surveys of school counselors and administrators to determine interests and needs; develop instruments to collect feedback and improve communication.
- Deliver outreach presentations to elementary schools, community agencies, organizations, and private businesses.
- Assist with developing presentation packages; proofread and edit correspondence, marketing materials, and other outreach-related documents.
- Develop partnerships and schedule routine visits to schools, colleges, universities, and community organizations; publicize and promote college programs and services.
- Assist in training and organizing the student outreach team.
- Assist with special program outreach efforts such as Puente, Daraja, DSPS, EOPS, VATEA, and CalWORKs to increase underrepresented student enrollment.
- Assist with development of college information for faculty and staff related to presentation packages and outreach activities.
- Respond to inquiries about outreach and recruitment in a courteous manner; resolve complaints efficiently.
- Perform related duties as required.
Completion of the twelfth grade with supplementary college‑level coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
Experience:One year of responsible outreach or community relations experience.
Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of:
- Principles and procedures used in community college outreach programs and services.
- Student recruitment and retention strategies and techniques.
- Basic public information, public speaking, community relations, and marketing principles and practices.
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations including Title 5 matriculation/Student Success and Support Program requirements.
- Principles, practices, and procedures of business letter writing and report preparation.
- Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Experience, understanding, and sensitivity to diverse academic, socio‑economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds within the local community.
- Understand the organization and operation of the assigned program area.
- Participate in planning, developing, organizing, and coordinating comprehensive outreach programs to attract, enroll, and retain community college students.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating public relations and marketing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to outreach.
