LARPD is looking for a positive and creative Teacher II to support one of our youth services sites. If you love working with children and utilizing your creativity, then look no further! (Must be age 18 or older by time of hire and able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.)
SUMMARYUnder immediate direction, plans and implements curriculum and instructional activities for Youth Services programs; continuously supervises and monitors children to ensure their safety and well-being; and performs related work as required. This role must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDReceives general direction from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from lead staff. Exercises direction over lower-level staff and volunteers.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThis classification is responsible for planning and implementing curriculum and instructional activities for Youth Services programs and ensuring a safe environment for participants. Incumbents in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned program area. Incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver services. This classification is distinguished from the Teacher position in that the latter has more experience in the classroom, along with additional required ECE units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEducation and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or 24 units in Early Childhood Education
- Two-years relevant experience working in a childcare facility.
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of curriculum planning and development.
- Instructional methods and techniques.
- Principles and practices of child development.
- General early education subject matter areas.
- Safety practices and equipment related to the work.
- Rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Principles and practices of customer service, techniques for providing a high level of customer service.
- Principles and practices of recordkeeping.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and applications related to the work.
Ability to:
- Plan, organize, and implement early childhood curriculum and age-appropriate activities.
- Provide effective leadership in a classroom and childcare setting.
- Effectively provide staff leadership and work direction.
- Monitor and enforce relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
