HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Ferrotec’s Thermal Business Unit is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on the custom design and development of thermal solutions. In this role, you will provide leadership, coordination, and technical direction for engineering activities, supporting both new product development and ongoing production. You will be expected to maintain a solid understanding of our core thermal technologies and processes and play an active role in supporting customer-facing efforts in collaboration with sales, applications engineering, and program management.

The ideal candidate combines strong leadership and communication skills with technical depth in thermal systems and electromechanical product design. The successful candidate will lead by example—reviewing designs, guiding technical decision-making, and ensuring engineering excellence across the team. Reports to the Managing Director.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Provides day-to-day leadership of a team of design and development engineers
  • Supports cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Applications, Program Management, Manufacturing, and Quality
  • Participates in customer meetings and technical discussions as needed, in coordination with other functional leads
  • Oversees execution of engineering deliverables across new product development and sustaining projects
  • Ensures effective use of engineering tools, documentation standards, and design controls
  • Guides project planning, task prioritization, and resource allocation to meet business objectives
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of design processes and engineering best practices
  • Supports recruiting, onboarding, and technical development of engineering team members
  • Promotes a strong culture of safety, quality, and accountability
  • Domestic and occasional international travel required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Experience with thermal systems, electromechanical assemblies, or related custom product development
  • Strong understanding of product development workflows from concept through production
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and deliver results in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience supporting customer-facing teams
  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as CAD and simulation or analysis software
  • Experience with design for manufacturability, structured problem-solving, and engineering documentation standards
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • A typical day requires continuous sitting and/or standing in an office setting with occasional breaks. Standing and walking around 100k sq. ft. facility extensively throughout the day.
  • Able to comfortably lift 35 pounds without injury.
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
