Description/Job Summary

HGL is seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Specialist (Site Safety and Health Officer III) with DOE (Department of Energy) experience to support a Deactivation, Decommissioning, and Removal project for five buildings at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) project site in Livermore, CA. The initial duration of the project is anticipated to be 5 ½ years.

The candidate will be responsible for implementing, and administering health, safety, and environmental protection programs affecting occupational health, employee and public safety, incident investigation and loss control, responsible environmental practices and equipment & property protection.

Responsibilities/Duties

What You'll Be Doing
  • Assist Senior Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with management of HSE program and safety assessment documents that will support all work activities performed on complex D&D/remediation and radiological projects.
  • Conduct hazard analyses and initiate controls to support operations.
  • Be a resource to SSHO and Project regarding Health, Safety & Environmental compliance with applicable federal, state, local, client, and HGL rules and regulations.
  • Assist with management of industrial hygiene, industrial safety, and environmental compliance activities at work location.
  • Communicate program Health and Safety performance to project leadership.
  • Assist with H&S site investigations.
  • Perform Health and Safety assessments and ensure completion of daily site inspections.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company health and safety program procedures and the site-specific health and safety plans.
  • Report and document incidents and issues related to site safety.
  • Coordinate daily site wide tasks with Project Supervisors, addressing safety concerns and resolutions.
  • Supervise site monitoring activities.
  • Ensure all training for site is accomplished and current.
  • Assist with client safety meetings.
  • Prepare and present daily safety meetings.
  • Travel and work outdoors as required.
Required Skills WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience overseeing safety on Federal environmental projects.
  • Ability to work with client and organizational leadership to set priorities, solidify relationships, while possessing the ability to ensure company and client compliance with Project Health, Safety & Environmental procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and other job-specified procedures or standards.
  • Knowledge of State, Federal (10 CFR 851), and industry standards, directives, and regulations.
