Quantum Simulations Graduate Intern

Job Description

We have an opening for a Graduate Student Intern in the Quantum Simulations Group of the Physics Division. The role focuses on simulations of linear and non‑linear material responses using quantum methods.

Full‑time on‑site presence is required.

You will

• Calculate electromagnetic response and spectra of driven material systems through simulations.
• Develop analysis tools for simulation results.
• Analyze results and provide weekly updates.
• Present findings through presentations and poster sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the NDAA.
• Continuing student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a PhD in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Strong academic record in physics or related field.
• Ability to apply basic physics principles to solve technical problems.
• Effective communication skills and ability to present concepts.
• Knowledge of materials science, physics, applied mathematics, or applied sciences.
• Familiarity with modern data‑analysis approaches, including summarizing and presenting results.
• Team orientation.

• Experience running electronic‑structure simulations, specifically with TDDFT and DFT theory.

$6,752 – $8,201 per month.
