Overview

At Siemens, we enable sustainable progress through technology by empowering customers to combine the real and digital worlds. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Trayer Engineering team, focusing on the mechanical design of new and existing switch gear products.

Responsibilities
  • Switchgear Product Design & Development. Lead the mechanical design of new switch gear products and reconfigure existing product structures using standardized components.
  • Perform complex part and assembly design using Solid Works 3D modeling, from concept through final production design.
  • Produce drawings and specifications for product lines for use in sales catalogs.
  • Introduce design simplification ideas to ensure performance, safety, quality, reliability, cost, and producibility.
  • Analysis, Prototyping & Qualification. Develop and support qualification test programs for onsite and third-party labs, conduct advanced FEA in mechanical, fluid, and heat-transfer areas, create design prototypes, and support production qualification, failure root‑cause analysis, and kinematics.
  • Collaboration & Technical Leadership. Provide support to R&D teams on new switch gear design, maintain focus on customer satisfaction through improved reliability and cost reduction, determine product requirements based on user input, network and collaborate with other engineers, and preserve proper configuration‑management methodology for drawings.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Six or more years of experience in component design, analysis, and validation.
  • Strong engineering development experience and ability to address production issues.
  • Advanced Solid Works and CAD skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FEA modeling and simulation, including mechanics, fluid flow, and heat transfer.
  • Strong knowledge of kinematics.
  • Proven ability to work independently in several aspects of the work.
  • Open to less than 25% travel.
  • Eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship required now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing switch gear or similar electrical distribution equipment.
  • Experience with electrical component designs (breakers, busbars, control cabinets).
  • Experience with sheet metal, simulation studies, structural analysis, and enclosure design.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Excellent project‑management skills.
  • Self‑motivated and initiative‑driven.
  • Team‑player with a collaborative approach.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Proven ability to lead technical aspects of projects or mentor junior engineers.
Pay

Pay range: $104,887 to $179,806 annually, with a target incentive of 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
