Job DescriptionWe have an opening for a Technical Coordinator. Under general supervision, you will provide technical and administrative support for the acquisition, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of electronic instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and mechanical equipment and hardware for a range of experiments and projects. You will work in a hands‑on, team‑oriented environment, collaborating with engineers, technologists, designers, machinists, and external vendors to plan, execute, and document technical activities.
Work may involve Beryllium, radioactive/fissile materials, other hazardous materials, and classified parts and documents. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the engineering directorate.
This position requires full‑time on‑site presence due to the nature of the work.
This position will be filled at either the 538.2 or 538.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.
In this role you will
- Coordinate and support multiple technical projects and activities with frequently changing requirements and priorities, ensuring schedule, technical, and documentation needs are met.
- Support acquisition and fabrication of general electronics instrumentation, hardware and data acquisition systems, and mechanical equipment and hardware for the Superblock (SBK) or other Nuclear Material Engineering areas
- Collaborate with designers, technicians, machinists, engineers, and vendors on multiple moderately complex projects, sometimes involving hazardous or classified materials, to ensure technical requirements are understood and met.
- Process internal fabrication packages through LLNL fabrication facilities, tracking status and coordinating with fabrication shops and requesters.
- Review drawings, electrical schematics, engineering notes, sketches, and related technical information to screen part sources, verify technical requirements, and support material and process selection.
- Review vendor proposals for fabrication processes, pricing, and delivery schedules, and provide feedback or recommendations to project leads.
- Maintain accurate records and systems documentation, including procurement status, fabrication progress, equipment maintenance activities, and experimental or operational data as needed.
- Provide Technical Release Representative (TRR) services requiring in‑depth knowledge of purchasing requirements, regulations, and LLNL business practices.
