The Staff Engineer is a senior technical leader for sustainment and legacy engineering, responsible for driving the development and delivery of solutions that re-establish and maintain production capability for obsolete or unsupported embedded products. This role owns complex problem solving and solution execution for assigned sustainment projects. The Staff Engineer is expected to independently deliver high-impact engineering outcomes and provide strong technical mentorship across the organization.
Responsibilities:- Own the development and delivery of sustainment engineering solutions, including redesigns, obsolescence resolutions, and test system development.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership in resolving complex challenges and developing creative, cost‑effective solutions where OEM data or tools are incomplete.
- Identify project and design risks early and partner with program management and the Chief Engineer on mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a senior technical reviewer and approve design validation, documentation, and test readiness, in alignment with Chief Engineer standards.
A BS or Master’s degree in electronic engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience:- Typically, at least 10-15 years of relevant experience in engineering, preferably in embedded systems design, manufacturing, or related fields.

Experience:
Experience working in manufacturing environments, especially with embedded systems or electronic components, is highly valued. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and supply chain management is beneficial. - Project Management
Experience:
Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully managing engineering projects from conception to completion. Experience with specific project management methodologies will be advantageous. - Experience working with DoD/government programs.
Skills:
- Proficiency in embedded systems design and development, including microcontrollers, firmware development, and PCB layout.
- Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly, soldering, testing, and debugging.
- Familiarity with industry‑standard tools and software used in embedded systems development and manufacturing, such as CAD software, IDEs, and testing equipment.
- Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to embedded systems manufacturing, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC standards, and RoHS compliance.
