Position: Financial Services Consultant 1 (Part-time, 20 hours/week)

Job Summary

This role is a front‑line, member‑facing position that handles daily financial transactions, analyzes members’ needs, performs consultative selling for our financial products, and ensures a smooth onboarding and membership experience. The role supports the credit union’s mission, vision, and service standards, and requires a high degree of integrity, compliance with regulatory standards, and a strong focus on delivering exceptional member service.

Teller Duties
  • Processes member transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing
  • Answers member account inquiries and posts transactions to member accounts, maintaining records
  • Balances cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy, following standard operating procedures
  • Issues cashier’s checks, money orders, and bank drafts
  • Verifies and reconciles daily transactions to maintain accurate records
  • Proactively educates members about our products and services
Member Service Duties
  • Resolves any issues and problems faced by members, providing timely and regular updates
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all member interactions
  • Assists members with:
    • Deposit Accounts: opening, closing, maintaining accounts and certificates of deposit
    • Monetary Transactions: share draft orders, stop payments, statement copies, check deposits, and cash deposits/withdrawals
    • Deposit Services: safe deposit boxes, direct deposits, payroll distributions, ATM/check card orders, PIN numbers, and notary services
    • Loans: credit cards, loans, and bill payments
    • Business Accounts: open DBA, sole proprietor, LLC, and corporation accounts
    • IRA and fiduciary transactions
  • Upholds the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the Customer Identification Program, and anti‑money laundering policies and procedures
  • Reports unusual or suspicious activity in writing to the Risk, Legal, and Compliance Department
  • Fills out Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and submits them for quality control in a timely manner
  • Ensures all member interactions and transactions are conducted with integrity and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Financial Sales Duties
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with members, understanding their needs and providing tailored financial products and solutions
  • Engages with members to understand their financial situations and short‑term and long‑term objectives
  • Performs consultative selling to offer personalized products that help members achieve their financial goals
  • Collaborates with other departments, such as Investment Services, Consumer Lending, Mortgage, and Business Lending, to provide comprehensive financial guidance
  • Promotes financial products and services that are suitable for members based on their needs
  • Identifies opportunities for account and membership growth and cross‑selling additional products or services
  • Maintains current knowledge of products and services offered
Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; comfortable with digital communication tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Knowledge
  • Ability to become thoroughly knowledgeable of credit union products and services, features, and benefits
Education and Experience
  • Minimum one year of customer service or client‑facing experience, preferably in a financial services, retail, or hospitality environment
  • Minimum high school diploma, or more than one year of related experience
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds at times
  • Flexibility with schedule to meet the needs of the organization and membership
Salary

$25.38–$27.60 per hour (DOE)
