Job SummaryA Senior Programmer Analyst II will be assigned to work at Las Positas College in Livermore, CA. The role includes program, design, development, implementation, and support of application systems and technical support of the district’s administrative computer software.
Representative Duties- Analyze, define, and implement projects and systems; design programs, file structures, and other required elements.
- Write programs, test, correct, verify program performance and accuracy; write documentation including system, file, program, operations, and user level documents.
- Install and maintain commercial application systems acquired by the district; test and install upgrades and updates; design and implement reports, extensions, and interfaces to auxiliary systems.
- Perform maintenance and enhancement of locally‑written systems and programs.
- Analyze and troubleshoot operating system software problems and system hardware malfunctions; assist vendor representatives in resolving these problems.
- Monitor, repair, maintain, and administer database systems and operating systems.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot interfaces and control software for data communications systems and peripheral devices such as terminal servers and printers.
- Provide technical support of systems and software for users, technology staff, and other district staff as directed.
- Learn and use new technologies required to remain current in the field.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Senior Programmer Analyst II:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science or a related field, and two (2) years of experience comparable to that of a Senior Programmer Analyst I within the district.
- Knowledge of systems analysis, problem definition, and system design.
- Knowledge of programming and evaluation.
- Knowledge of structured design and programming methods.
- Knowledge of administrative applications, information services, and user functions.
- Knowledge of data communications hardware and software.
- Knowledge of computer programming languages, designs, and data manipulation techniques including, but not limited to, Oracle database, SQL, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), C, and ANSI COBOL.
- Knowledge of relational database table structures.
- Knowledge of sequential, indexed, and relative file concepts.
- Knowledge of relational database systems for transaction processing.
- Knowledge of modern computer operating systems and related utilities, including, but not limited to, Unix/Linux, Windows Server, and other modern operating systems and environments.
- Knowledge of client‑server systems and web‑based technologies.
- Knowledge of basic principles and methods of data communications.
- Knowledge of college administrative functions and principles of modern business practices.
- Analyze technical data and business situations using logical reasoning and problem definition.
- Problem‑solve and develop effective plans and system designs.
- Write programs and apply structured program designs using programming utilities, editors, and tools.
- Read and understand programs and systems developed by others.
- Complete complex tasks without close supervision.
- Provide technical coordination for projects.
- Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Work with and exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the varied racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, academic, socio‑economic, and disabled populations of community college students.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Banner or other higher education administrative systems.
- Knowledge of Oracle Database Systems.
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
