LARPD is hiring an Aquatics Field Supervisor to support our dynamic organization. We offer a variety of programs in the aquatic space. This position must be able to flex schedules as necessary to cover program needs.

Pay Range: $46.08-$56.02

SUMMARY

Under direction, plans, coordinates, and oversees the daily operations, programs, and staffing of the District’s aquatic facilities. This position ensures a safe, inclusive, and high-quality aquatic environment for the community by supervising aquatic staff, enforcing District policies and procedures, and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from higher-level management staff. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff and volunteers.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Aquatic Field Supervisor is responsible for supervising staff, programs, services, and activities of program areas and affiliated facilities to maximize service delivery to the community. Performance requires independence, initiative, and discretion. This classification differs from the Recreation Manager in that the latter is responsible for the strategic planning and management of all District recreation programs, with overall administrative and operational oversight of programs and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implements and monitors the operations of the Aquatics programs and facilities.
  • Oversee the activities of staff and volunteers; assign, train, direct, schedule, and monitor staff duties; evaluate employee performance and recommend disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Responsible for the appropriate training of employees in assigned areas of responsibility; plans and conducts in-service training programs; monitors the status of required licenses and certifications; structures the evaluation and professional development of program staff to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Conducts research to identify programs of value and interest to the community; evaluates program effectiveness and viability; makes recommendations on new programs or modifications of existing programs to meet community needs. Works collaboratively with other departments; confers regularly with other field supervisors and managers.
  • Assists in the preparation of marketing materials, such as course descriptions, program brochures, newsletters, and announcements; uses social media and other forums to maximize community outreach and participation.
  • Develops, implements, and recommends effective maintenance and safety programs, procedures, and guidelines; conducts periodic inspections and ensures program facilities are properly maintained for optimal safety.
  • Monitors inventory, orders supplies and maintains purchase records within the authorized budget.
  • Prepares and manages program budget and grants; projects revenue and expenditure; monitors and tracks expenditures and fees collected; monitors inventory and purchases authorized supplies and equipment.
  • Manages fee collection, accounting activities, and program registration in assigned areas; reviews records and files to ensure proper accounting and documentation consistent with District policies and procedures.
  • Identifies grant opportunities; develops and prepares grant proposals.
  • Maintains records on program activities, attendance, and other pertinent information; prepares a variety of operational and business reports, and associated correspondence.
  • Assists with District special events as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, or a related field.

AND

Five years of relevant work experience in the assigned program area, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
