Senior Finishing Specialist (Water-Based) About the Company

Ronbow is seeking a Senior Finishing Specialist to own and operate our water-based finishing line. This role requires deep, practical experience with water-based coatings, including spray application, environmental control, defect diagnosis, and process discipline.

This is a working lead role. The ideal candidate can personally spray and finish, while also owning the daily performance, quality, and safety of the water-based paint line.

• Hands-On Water-Based Finishing Execution
• Perform hands-on spray finishing using water-based paints, primers, and stains.
• Prepare materials through sanding, masking, surface cleaning, and moisture control.
• Ensure consistent film build, color accuracy, and finish uniformity.
• Personally handle complex, high-risk, or rework-sensitive finishing jobs.
• Own the full water-based finishing workflow from prep through cure and inspection.
• Monitor and control humidity, temperature, airflow, and drying conditions, which are critical for water-based finishes.
• Sequence jobs to minimize contamination, moisture issues, and rework.
• Identify and immediately correct environmental or process deviations that affect finish quality.
• Quality Control & Defect Diagnosis
• Inspect finished parts for water-based specific defects such as:
• Raised grain
• Blushing
• Uneven drying
• Lap marks or texture issues
• Diagnose root causes related to technique, environment, material condition, or process timing.
• Train team members on water-based finishing best practices and defect prevention.
• Stop work when quality standards are not being met.
• Operate and monitor spray equipment, pumps, booths, and ventilation systems suited for water-based coatings.
• Maintain cleanliness of spray booths, lines, and equipment to prevent contamination.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and mixing of water-based coatings and additives.
• Enforce PPE usage and safety practices specific to water-based finishing environments.
• Escalate equipment, airflow, or safety issues immediately.
• Lead and train finishing technicians on water-based application techniques and discipline.
• Set and enforce standards for workmanship, cleanliness, and process consistency.
• Provide real-time feedback and correction on the floor.
• Assist with onboarding and developing finishing team members.

• Required
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with water-based spray finishing.
• Proven ability to spray water-based paints, primers, or stains consistently.
• Strong understanding of environmental sensitivity in water-based systems.
• Experience working in a production or shop environment.
• Comfortable leading others while remaining hands-on.
• Preferred
• Experience in cabinetry, woodworking, furniture, or architectural finishes.
• Familiarity with water-based coating manufacturers and specifications.
• Experience with spray booths, HVLP or air-assisted spray systems for water-based materials.
• Experience enforcing quality and safety standards in finishing environments.
