North Wind Services (NWS) is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer’s mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre‑employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly‑motivated and well‑qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day‑to‑day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
The Operations and Business Directorate has an opening in the Security Organization’s Information and Personnel Security Division for a Secretary III – Security Access Specialist to work in the Badge Office Section of the Personnel Security Group. Under limited supervision, the successful candidate will be working in a team atmosphere requiring a great degree of flexibility, discretion, and tact in a demanding environment to facilitate access to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).
The successful candidate will perform a full range of moderately difficult task‑oriented functions with multiple components with conflicting priorities, following standard policies and procedures. The successful candidate will solve problems of moderate scope and complexity, assists with the implementation of new techniques and procedures, and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. This position requires a high level of customer service experience in order to carry out duties in a manner corresponding with customer needs.
The position requires interacting with all levels of personnel within the Laboratory as well as external to the Laboratory. The successful candidate reports to the Badge Office Section supervisor.
The successful candidate will be required to pass various on‑site training modules to pursue work assignments. This position requires full‑time on‑site presence due to the nature of the work.
Essential Duties- Collaborate with other Badge Office staff members to provide a high level of customer service to facilitate access to LLNL for employees, non‑employees, and visitors.
- Receive, review, and ensure accurate data entry on various types of badge and access requests. Verify appropriate authorization on requests for access; grant or deny access based on established criteria and update the access control system to enable or restrict access into limited and special limited areas.
- Conduct face‑to‑face and/or electronic interactions with diverse customer base to gather and input data and ensure that appropriate badging and access approvals are in place prior to issuing badges.
- Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex security access control issues related to badge issuance with LLNL requesters, employees and visitors to the Laboratory.
- Maintain accurate and detailed information in the badging database and other databases, used to process and issue badges for visitors and employees.
- Facilitate badging for groups and individuals, as well as access processes and/or approvals in coordination with internal organizations such as the Foreign Visits and Assignments Office, Central Clearance, Security Awareness, Office of Investigative Services (OIS), Protective Force Division (PFD), and other Security Organization elements.
