Plumbing Finish-Installer/Tradesman

Reports To:

Field Foreman

Shift/

Hours:

6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Position Overview

Payrange: $21.84- $27.63

The Finish Plumber may drive their personal vehicle or a company vehicle. Their primary responsibility will be to install faucets, water heaters, tubs, under sink drain assemblies, water supply valves and water supply lines for residential and multi-family housing

Technical Responsibilities of the Job

  • Water heaters (solder copper supplies, run the vent, run T&P drain, hook up gas line)
  • Tankless water heaters (same as water heaters)
  • Drop in bath tubs (install drain, solder, drill fiberglass or tile, mix mortar)
  • Faucets (install drains copper or ABS traps, hook up supply lines)
  • Toilets (clean surface, install wax ring, assemble toilet base and tank)
  • Angle stops and drains (cut stub outs, tighten stops, glue or solder drain assemblies)
  • Lift and carry over 80lbs at a time
  • Knowledge of local codes for installation is a plus
  • Lean Principles including 5S
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and Management.

Training/Certification

  • Prior construction or plumbing experience a plus
  • Experience with plumbing Install and troubleshooting
  • Knows how to work a snake for Drains, Sewer lines, Lavs etc.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Graduate of Apprenticeship Program is required for Journeyman

Working conditions and management style:

  • Subject to adverse weather conditions – extreme heat and cold
  • Job sites can be loud, dusty,
  • Level of supervision to be expected
  • May be working in elevated areas (up to 3 stories)
  • Climbing, stooping, bending, crawling

Performance Standards:

  • Percentage of time spent in field, traveling, in meetings, etc. (varies)
  • Installers and Tradesman use a Field Skills Matrix to meet job goals and expectations – review with supervisor
  • All Villara employees are expected to work well with other team members, sub-contractors, and customers
  • Meeting deadlines as outlined by supervisor (bid times)
  • Showing up every day and on-time. Punctual
  • Taking appropriate time for rest and meal breaks
  • No personal phone calls unless emergency
  • Willingness to learn
  • Complete timecards daily
  • Meeting Lean requirements

What position is the next level up? Journeyman or Service

What are the additional skills that are required to promote into the next level-up position? At least 4-5 years of plumbing production install and finish experience for Journeyman. Organizational and leadership skills. Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with superintendents.

How many of these additional skills are required in order to promote? 75% of the skills noted above are required. The other 25% will be taught on the job by the Field Supervisor.
