Job Summary

The Nursery Assistant will contribute to a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children. This involves implementing daily routines, participating in planned activities, and maintaining accurate records. The role also includes liaising with parents/carers, supporting colleagues, and adhering to all policies and procedures.

Qualification/education

A recognised Level 2 Childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 Certificate for the Children & Young People's Workforce or Children's Care, Learning and Development) or working towards completion is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience of caring for or working with children in a voluntary or paid capacity is desirable.

Skills

Essential skills include enthusiasm for working with young children, excellent communication skills, patience, reliability, and a positive approach to inclusive practice. Desirable skills include good organisational and record-keeping skills, understanding of Early Learning Goals, and knowledge of the National Standards for the regulation of Childcare provision. Flexibility is also required.
