About the Position

We are excited to have Senior Ecologist opportunities in a fast‑growing Environmental Planning (EP) team based in the United Kingdom. Whilst you will initially be part of a relatively small team, this position comes with the opportunity to help shape the future, and the prospect of being part of a far bigger picture as a member of both the global Antea community and the global Inogen Alliance.

Whilst we offer hybrid roles, feeling an integral part of a business is important to us all and regular company get‑togethers give us all the opportunity to catch up in person and keep informed on company business.

Role responsibilities

  • Undertaking surveys for all common legislatively protected species and advise on and complete mitigation.
  • Undertaking the role of Ecological Clerk of Works during the construction phase of works for projects.
  • Data analysis and interpretation for inclusion within ecological reports.
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the business, with clients and their teams, subcontractors and other third parties (regulators, statutory consultees, etc.).
Key qualifications and experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in relevant subject, though relevant experience is equally valued.
  • At least four years’ experience as a professional ecological consultant.
  • Associate Member of CIEEM (or higher) and a willingness to work towards a higher level in time.
  • Sound ecological field skills covering a range of protected species and habitats.
  • A clear understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework as it relates to ecology and nature conservation.
  • A Natural England survey licence (Level 1 or above).
  • Knowledge of and experience of using the Defra Biodiversity Metric and UK Habitat Classification.
  • The ability to write concise, high quality, technical reports in line with CIEEM guidelines.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • A willingness to travel and to work away from home with occasional longer or unsociable hours.
  • Experience of using GIS
  • Knowledge of BREEAM 2018 assessments.
  • BSBI FISC (Level 3 or above).
