This is a full time, maternity cover position for initially 6 months, working 35 hours per week flexibly between 07:00 – 19:00.
Eurofins PSS is recruiting for a Material Scientist to provide on site support as a Eurofins Managed PSS Scientist, based at the Bristol Myers Squibb Moreton facility in the Wirral.
This position is a fully employed Material Scientist by Eurofins PSS, supporting services delivered to our client on their site.
This role is not employment with Bristol Myers Squibb and Bristol Myers Squibb does not manage the recruitment or employment terms for this position.
As an Material Scientist your role will be to perform analysis of pharmaceutical raw materials, drug substance, and finished product and produce accurate results within an acceptable timeframe.
Job Responsibilities that you be covering:- You will perform routine and non‑routine physical and analytical testing using traditional and modern techniques to support investigational studies.
- You will manage the receipt, storage, dispensing, and disposal of development samples within the Development Store.
- You will support the introduction and effective implementation of new equipment across the functional area.
- You will contribute to project teams by providing protocol feedback, summarising data, and offering initial interpretation in line with agreed timelines.
- You will take initiative, work independently, solve analytical challenges, learn new processes quickly, share expertise, and drive continuous improvement while building strong working relationships.
- You will communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver effective presentations when required.
Qualifications
What skills, qualifications and experiences you will hold as an Material Scientist:
- You will hold a degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, supported by a strong fundamental knowledge of Chemistry.
- You will have relevant experience in pharmaceutical analysis within a development laboratory or equivalent environment.
- You will have experience using traditional analytical techniques and modern instrumental equipment such as HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, Dissolution and UV spectroscopy, alongside a solid understanding of chromatographic methods.
- You will have a thorough understanding of GMP requirements and the ability to coach others in compliant ways of working.
- You will have a good understanding of the drug development and production lifecycle, strong communication skills, and the ability to deliver effective technical or non‑technical presentations when required.
- You will have a flexible approach to work, the ability to switch priorities quickly, and a proactive mindset that seeks improvements within your area of responsibility.
