EQUANS is looking for a Mobile Fire Door Maintenance Operative to work on our Knowsley School contract in Liverpool. This permanent full‑time role requires 40 hours per week and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
General OverviewThe Fire Door Inspector & Maintainer will ensure the safety of the public by identifying, investigating, and reducing risk. They will be responsible for developing effective relationships and ensuring that proactive communication is maintained continuously with internal and external stakeholders. They will plan and prioritise work within recognised safe systems of work, business policies, procedures and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation.
They will participate in a one‑team approach to duty allocation, supporting and working effectively with colleagues to provide good working relationships within the North West contracts and wider NW‑C region. The Fire Door Inspector & Maintainer will report into the Fire Door Supervisor.
The Fire Door Inspector & Maintainer will have accountability for the inspection and maintenance of fire doors within the North West Cluster. The individual must be reliable, conscientious, and professional at all times, effective in communication, able to deal with stakeholders at all levels, work on their own initiative while adhering to procedures, and demonstrate good time‑management and organisational skills. A flexible attitude to working patterns is required.
ComplexityThe role consists of, but is not limited to, the following activities:
- Carrying out inspection of fire doors at each site in a timely, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
- Carrying out maintenance & repairs of fire doors at each site in a timely, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
- Using the Bolster app on the PDA (tablet) to follow a check list to report on the status of each fire door.
- Building professional relationships with clients.
- Maintaining accurate and precise documentation of works completed.
- Following process to ensure each inspection is completed correctly.
- Be responsible for keeping the company vehicle clean, tidy and presentable.
- Handling tools of various types and ensuring safe set up.
- Adhering to safety guidelines whilst on the job site.
- Ensuring all tools and machinery are kept clean and in good repair.
- Ensuring all specifications are met.
- Good communication skills.
- Liaise and undertake duties at other EQUANS projects as directed by Senior Management.
The following qualifications and experience are required:
- Experience carrying out Fire Door Inspections and maintenance & repairs is essential.
- Recognised Fire Door Inspection qualifications (FDIS, BRE, etc.).
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- A sound understanding of Health and Safety Legislation (SMSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH).
- Confident communicator with excellent customer interaction skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
- Administration skills, including use of CAFM system and Microsoft Office applications.
