Responsibilities:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will support our customers by ensuring the performance and reliability of our machines directly on-site.
You will be involved in the installation of new equipment, as well as in the maintenance and repair of existing machines.
We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team and provide technical support to customers across the UK.
This is a hands‑on role suited to an engineer who enjoys working directly with machinery, diagnosing faults and finding practical solutions. You will spend a significant amount of your time at customer sites, supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.
The RoleAs a Field Service Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Installing, commissioning and servicing new machinery at customer sites.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and routine servicing.
- Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and control‑system faults.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Identifying faulty components and carrying out repairs or replacements.
- Supporting customers with breakdowns and technical issues, with a focus on restoring equipment to operation efficiently.
- Carrying out machine checks to identify potential problems before they develop into failures.
- Providing clear service reports and keeping customer and service records up to date using CRM and other reporting systems.
- Training customer operators and maintenance personnel in the safe and effective operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Working closely with customers to provide a professional and responsive service.
- Travelling regularly to customer sites throughout the UK.
The role will involve working independently at customer premises, so a professional approach, strong communication skills and the ability to manage your own workload are important.
Experience & QualificationsWe are looking for an engineer with at least two years’ experience in field service, maintenance, machinery installation or a similar engineering environment
.
You should have:
- A strong electrical engineering background.
- Good practical experience with electrical wiring and fault-finding.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience diagnosing faults and carrying out electrical repairs.
- Good mechanical engineering and maintenance skills.
- Experience replacing and commissioning electrical and mechanical components.
- Strong practical problem‑solving skills and a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple service activities.
- A genuine customer‑focused approach.
Experience with
CNC machinery, turning equipment, automated production machinery or bar‑feeding systems would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
Relevant technical qualifications such as an NVQ in Engineering, ONC, HNC or equivalent are desirable.

You should enjoy diagnosing problems, working with machinery and finding effective solutions rather than simply following a routine maintenance schedule.
