DescriptionThe Department of Instructional Leadership and Support at the University of West Alabama invites applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach graduate-level courses in Instructional Leadership. This position supports the preparation of school leaders who are committed to student engagement and success, data-informed decision-making, and instructional excellence.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach graduate courses in Instructional Leadership in online and/or blended formats.
- Design and deliver engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with program outcomes and state standards.
- Facilitate meaningful discussions and provide timely, constructive feedback to support candidate growth.
- Assess student performance using clear, standards-based evaluation practices.
- Maintain regular communication with students and program faculty. Student emails should be responded to within 24 hours.
- Contribute to continuous program improvement initiatives as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Adjunct appointments are made on an as-needed basis, depending on departmental needs and course availability. As such, an adjunct status does not guarantee assignment to teach courses in any given term, nor does it ensure a specific number of course assignments. Teaching opportunities may vary from term to term based on enrollment, program requirements, and scheduling needs.
Qualifications Required Qualifications- Earned doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.
- Demonstrated effectiveness teaching in online and/or blended learning environments.
- Evidence of strong instructional design and student engagement practices.
- Commitment to academic excellence, professional integrity, and student success.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience fostering inclusive learning environments that support diverse student populations.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle).
- Experience teaching working professionals in graduate programs.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a P–12 school setting.
- Knowledge of school improvement processes, data analysis, curriculum leadership, or educational policy.
- Experience mentoring aspiring school leaders.
