DescriptionThe Department of Instructional Leadership and Support at the University of West Alabama invites applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach graduate-level courses in Technology Education. This position supports the preparation of educators who are committed to effective technology integration, innovative instructional practices, and enhancing student learning through digital tools and resources.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach Technology Education graduate courses in online and/or blended formats as assigned.
- Design and deliver engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with program outcomes and professional standards.
- Facilitate meaningful discussions and provide timely, constructive feedback to support candidate growth.
- Assess student performance using clear, standards-based evaluation practices.
- Maintain regular communication with students and program faculty; respond to student emails within a 24-hour period.
- Contribute to continuous program improvement initiatives as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Adjunct appointments are made on an as-needed basis, depending on departmental needs and course availability. As such, an adjunct status does not guarantee assignment to teach courses in any given term, nor does it ensure a specific number of course assignments. Teaching opportunities may vary from term to term based on enrollment, program requirements, and scheduling needs.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree in Instructional Technology or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.
- Demonstrated effectiveness teaching in online and/or blended learning environments.
- Commitment to quality teaching and student success.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Successful teaching experience in an online environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle).
- Experience teaching diverse student populations.
- Successful teaching experience within a P-12 school setting.
- Experience integrating educational technology and digital tools to enhance instruction.
