Our client is seeking an experienced and adaptable Director of Accounting for a contract engagement focused on providing leadership stability, technical accounting support, and operational oversight during a critical period. This is a hands-on opportunity to step into a high-impact role where your expertise can make an immediate difference—ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and can quickly assess, prioritize, and deliver.

• Location: Onsite in Modesto, CA
• Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $65-$70/hr W2 + benefits
• No Third Parties and no Visa Sponsorship Available for this role

What You Will Do:

• Lead and manage month-end and quarter-end close processes with a focus on inventory, COGS, and supply chain accuracy.
• Oversee reconciliations and ensure the integrity of balance sheet accounts across multiple entities.
• Support ongoing audit and compliance activities, including preparation of documentation and technical accounting memos.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to the accounting team and ensure continuity of operations during the transition period.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and contribute to operational efficiency.

What Gets You The Job:

• CPA certification required, with strong technical GAAP knowledge and experience in both audit and corporate accounting.
• Solid understanding of ASC 606, ASC 842, and experience writing technical memos.
• Proven leadership in managing accounting teams and supporting close cycles under tight deadlines.
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with AS400, Adaptive, Essbase, and Showcase is a plus.
• Flexible, resourceful, and comfortable working in dynamic environments without rigid structure.
