Position Summary

A Commercial Lender is responsible for developing and managing commercial and consumer banking relationships by helping clients obtain appropriate lending solutions through relationship building, financial analysis, and sound credit judgement. This position manages an assigned loan portfolio, provides quality customer service, supports business development efforts, and ensures compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview loan applicants and collect, analyze, and evaluate financial and related information to determine creditworthiness and the merits of commercial and consumer loan requests.
  • Structure and negotiate loan terms, including rates, repayment schedules, collateral requirements, and other conditions within bank policy and lending authority.
  • Approve loans within assigned lending authority and serve as the relationship manager or contact officer for loans requiring additional approval. Prepare loan presentations and supporting documentation for Bank Manager, President, and Chief Credit Officer, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with commercial and consumer clients by providing responsive service and identifying appropriate banking solutions.
  • Monitor loan portfolio performance by reviewing financial information, collateral, payment activity, and other indicators of credit quality. Take appropriate action on past due or problem accounts.
  • Perform credit analysis, underwriting, and credit administration duties for assigned loan relationships and, where applicable, support the portfolio management needs of senior lenders.
  • Manage construction loan administration for assigned construction lending relationships, including documentation review, inspections, draw processing, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and complete loan documentation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, bank policies, and underwriting standards.
  • Advise customers, when appropriate, on business, financial, and borrowing matters to support long‑term financial success and relationship growth.
  • Develop new business through prospecting, referrals, networking, and cross‑selling of bank products and services.
  • Serve as a resource for customers regarding additional bank products and services, coordinating with internal partners when appropriate.
  • Assist in developing business development strategies, portfolio growth goals, and individual performance objectives.
  • Participate in community and professional organizations to enhance the Bank’s community presence and cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Satisfactorily complete all required compliance bank training and comply with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics required.

Experience:

Minimum of three years in commercial lending or commercial credit administration.
