Major Components Exchange Technician – Full Circle Wind Services
The role involves safely removing and replacing major wind turbine components such as gearboxes, generators, main bearings, and rotor blades, performing rigging and heavy‑lifting operations, conducting detailed inspections and reporting, collaborating with OEM technical advisors, maintaining accurate records, and traveling to wind farms across the UK.
Responsibilities- Safely remove and replace major wind turbine components (gearboxes, generators, main bearings, and rotor blades).
- Participate in complex rigging and heavy‑lifting operations with crane operators and site supervisors.
- Carry out detailed inspections and report before and after each exchange to ensure turbine readiness.
- Collaborate with OEM technical advisors and wind farm operators to deliver projects safely and on time.
- Maintain meticulous records of all work performed.
- Travel to wind farms across the UK, including extended stays or rotational projects.
- At least 2 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance with a focus on major component exchanges.
- Strong mechanical or electrical background, backed by qualifications such as NVQ, HNC, or similar.
- GWO Basic Safety Training (Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness).
- Valid medical fitness certificate.
- Confidence working in challenging weather conditions and at heights.
- Full driving license and flexibility to travel to remote wind farm sites.
- Team‑first mindset, excellent communication skills, and problem‑solving under pressure.
- OEM‑specific training (Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE, Nordex, Enercon, Senvion, or EWT).
- Expertise in hydraulics, torque and tensioning tools, or borescope inspections.
- Experience with technical lift plans, rigging diagrams, or engineering schematics.
- Background in wind turbine installation or commissioning.
